DanceSport was part of the World Games 2013 in Santiago di Cali / Colombia with latin, ballroom and of course with salsa. Plaza de Toros, a bullfighting arena, set the stage for the paso double and the other latin american and ballroom dances and salsa. More than 17,000 spectators had come to the arena and some two thousand people were outside waiting for a place in vain.
Gabriele Goffredo – Anna Matus from Moldova danced for gold in latin section on Saturday evening.
Timur Imametdinov – Ekaterina Nikolaeva from Russian Federation achieved the silver medal.
Bronze medal was given to Charles-Guillaume Schmitt – Elena Salikhova from France.
Sunday was the time for standard and the final of salsa.
Benedetto Ferruggia – Claudia Köhler from Germany won the gold medal ahead of …
… Sergei Konovaltsev – Olga Konovaltseva from Russian Federation,
who achieved the silver medal.
Bronze medal was given to Rosario Guerra – Grazia Benincasa from Italy.
Cali is called the capital of salsa in the world. So it was more than exciting, if Merolanda Benjumea – Morolina Avila from Colombia could achieved to win the gold medal for Colombia. They did! More than 17,000 people cheered for the young couple … At the end they won the gold medal.
The silver medal was won by Jacub Mazuch – Michaela Gatekova from Czech Republic.
Antonio Berardi & Jasmina Valentina Berardi from Italy attained bronze medal.
