12-11 WDSF World Championship Latin

Austrian Open Championships 2012 set the stage for this year`s WDSF World Championship Latin on November 17th in the city hall of Vienna. 93 couples from 57 countries had come to find the new world champion in latin section. Last year`s world champions Zoran Plohl – Tatsiana Lahvinovich from Slovenia had changed to WDSF Professional Devision after winning the championship in Singapore last year.

So it was most exciting who would be the follower in this dancing section. There were several aspirants for the title this year. So were saw a very sportive event in the Vienna City Hall starting at 1 p.m. last Saturday. It was nearly midnight when Hermann Götz, President of Austrian and Vienna DanceSport Federation (ÖTSV and WTSV), announced the new World Champions Latin 2012: two of the six finalists were still waiting for the results: Andrey Zaytsev – Anna Kuzminskaya from Russian Federation and … Aniello Langella – Khrystyna Moshenska from Italy. 12-11 WDSF World Championship 10Dance
Oslo / Norway

Congratulations! Bjorn Bitch – Ashli Williamson from Denmark won the title for the third time. With a total of 20 points, Bjorn and Ashli attained to win ahead of Miha Vodicar – Nadiya Bychkova from Slovenia, who achieved 2nd place with 32,5 points.

This year, Norwegian DanceSport Federation had invited the best couples of the world in 10Dance section to join the World Championship at Oslofjord Convention Center on November 10th 2012. Heidi Götz from WDSF Presidium thanked Mette M. Berg, Chairman of the10Dance Organizing Committee, and the whole team for the excellent organisation of this event. The nine adjudicators would have a difficult task to judge, she said, but she would be sure that at the end they would find out the best couple of this championship.

12-10 WDSF Grand Slam Standard
Moscow / Russia

Russian Dance Sport Union was host of the 4th Grand Slam Standard competition of the year on the occasion of Dance Accord 2012 in Moscow on October 26th and 27th. At least 290 couples arrived at Aquarium Universal Sports Arena. Starting on Friday afternoon with the first rounds it took the whole Saturday to find out the six finalists of the competition.

12-10 WDSF World Championship Youth Ten Dance – Moscow / Russia

The Russian Open Dancesport Championships “Dance Accord 2012” set the stage for this year´s WDSF World Championship Youth Ten Dance on October 27th at “Aquarium Universal Sports Center” in Moscow. The day of the championship began with snow and ice on the streets, but the couples were glad to be hosted at Aquarium Hotel, which is situated within the complex of the Aquarium Sports Arena.

Anastasia Titkova, RDSU First Vice-President and Sportsdirector, was glad to see 31 couples from all over the world, representing 31 countries in the section of youth ten dance. Russian Dance Sport Union was well prepared and arranged the event going off without a hitch. Congratulations to the team.

12-10 DTV High-Performer 66
Final Ranking Competition
Delmenhorst / Germany

Perhaps it was Udo Jürgens with his song “With 66 Years of Age …”, who inspired German DanceSport Federation (DTV) some years ago to form a special age group in standard section for those active couples of 66 and more to continue in competitive dancing.

Last Saturday, TSZ Delmenhorst set the stage for the final ranking competition of “High-Performance 66” in 2012. 35 couples had been qualified for this final ranking competition by participating at five ranking competitions during the year. 28 couples had come from all over the country to Delmenhorst to find the top couples of High Performance 66 class in Germany.

12-09 WDSF World Championship Freestyle Latin – Beijing / China

The 2012 World Championship Freestyle Latin, being held on September 23rd in Beijing,  was the forth highlight of this year´s Beijing International DanceSport Open. Sixteen couples from 13 countries had been registered to the competition.

With 54,79 points out of a maximum of 55,00 points Vladimir Karpov – Mariya Tzaptashvilli from Russian Federation won the World Championship Freestyle Latin competition. Congratulations!

With a superior result of 53,71 points, Charles-Guillaume Schmitt – Elena Salikhova from France achieved 2nd place.

12-09 WDSF World Championship Freestyle Standard Beijing / China


The 2012 World Championship Freestyle Standard was being held on September 22nd in Beijing. It was one of the four highlights of this year`s Beijing International DanceSport Open.

The new sections “Freestyle Standard” and “Freestyle Latin” were started last year. For this year`s competition fourteen couples had registered. Following the rules a minimum of three out of the five standard dances have to be shown during 75 % of the time, which is between 3:30 and 4:00 minutes. Elements of the other dances may be included up to 25 % time of the show.

Titel holder Simone Segatori – Annette Sudol from Germany had come again to Beijing to stick up for the title of World Champion Freestyle Standard for a second time. And they succeeded to win again in a superior manner. Congratulations to Simone & Annette.
