12-04 WDSF World Championship Under 21 Latin – Aarhus / Denmark


We saw the world premiere of a new category in WDSF competitions: the project is called U21. WDSF initiated a new category between youth and adult: “Under 21”. In Aarhus on February 22nd 2012, the premiere of this project started: 91 couples, most of them coming from Europe, but also from North America and Asia, joined the first open World Championship Unter 21 Latin.

The audience saw excellent performance in all latin dances. We can resume, the next generation of latin dancers is becoming mature and is well prepared for the adult category.

12-04 WDSF European Championship Latin – Cambrils / Spain

Happy Easter! The sun shines bright at the coast of Catalonia on April 8th in Cabrils / Spain this morning. 71 couples from 39 countries are attending the European Championship Latin 2012. Andrey Zaytsev – Anna Kuzminskaya from Russian Fedderation belong to the candidates of the title. Andrey and Anna had won the Final Grand Slam Latin in Salou in December 2011. Will they succeed again today? What about their competitors?

12-04 WDSF World Championship Senior II Standard, Cambrils / Spain

6th Dance Olympiad World Dance Sport – Cambrils 2012 – set the stage for this years open WDSF World Championship Senior II Standard. 156 couples from all over the world started for the championship in Spain on April 7th 2012.

The championship started at 10.00 a.m. and it took the whole day to find the finalists. At 8.30 p.m. seven couples were nominated for the final rounds.

Heinz-Josef Beckers / Aurelia Bickers from Germany won all dances and the World Championship Senior II Standard with a total of 5 points.

12-03 DTV German Latin Championship
Böblingen / Germany

Marius Andrei Balan / Nina Bezzubova from Schwarz-Weiß-Club Pforzheim convinced the nine adjudicators with excellent latin dancing. They achieved 1st places in all five dances in the final rounds and won the championship ahead of Sergey and Viktoria Tatarenko, German Latin Champions of 2011 from Ahorn Club TSA in PSV Berlin, who achieved 2nd place in all dances this year.

12-02 WDSF Open Ten Dance
Saxonian Dance Classics 2012

Visitors of Saxonian Dance Classics 2012 lived to see another highlight this weekend in Coswig-Dresden. 34 couples from 13 countries had come to compete at WDSF Open Ten Dance. Supervisor Sibille Vinzenz and her “crew” did an excellent job under the chairmanship of Andreas Neuhaus. It took the nine adjudicators from seven countries three rounds to identify the six finalists of this competition. The photo  shoes Petra Matschullat-Horn judging the ten dance competition.

Saxonian Dance Classics 2012

Tassilo & Sabine Lax superior won the competition with all twenty-five 1st places!

From February 25th – 26th “Tanzsportzentrum Dresden” had invited for the 3rd Saxonian Dance Classics. More than 400 couples started this weekend to compare their dancing skills in eight classes. Major events on Saturday were WDSF Open Ten Dance and WDSF Senior I Standard.

Tassilo and Sabine Lax from Germany, who had become World Champions Senior I Standard at Antwerp three weeks before for the second time won the competition with all forty-five 1st places of the nine adjudicators.

12-02 DTV Leistungsstarke 66
Saxonian Dance Classics 2012

Saxonian Dance Classics set the stage for this years start of DTV Leistungsstarke 66. The 1st qualification took place on 26th February 2012 in Coswig near Dresden. Armin & Ute Walendzik from TSC Brühl in BTV 1879 achieved 1st place ahead of Hans-Georg & Barbara Strunk from VTG Grün-Gold Recklinghausen, who attained 2nd place, followed by Joachim and Gisela Götze from TSG Bremerhaven (3rd place) and Helmut Lembke / Eleonore Roland (4th place) from Tanzklub Blau-WEiß Celle. The final round was completed by Klaus & Werner Hanne from TC Wieste TV Sottrum (5th place) and Andreas & Susanne Nolopp from STK Impuls Leipzig (6th place).

12-02 WDSF Grand Slam Latin
12th Antwerp Stars Cup / Belgium

Andrey Zaytsev / Anna Kuzminskaya, Russian Federation

On February 4th the new series of grand slam latin competitions 2012 started in Antwerp / Belgium. 75 couples had come from 18 European countries to join the tournament. Hubert De Maeschschalck guided the competition as master of ceremony under the chairmanship  of Marco Sietas, Sportsdirector of WDSF.

Many experienced adjudicators are needed to run international championships. They usually judge from dawn to dusk on several days. Couples should be aware that they also “perform” excellently till the end of the competition.
