Chinese Dancesport Federation managed to create a phantasmic opening ceremony the evening before the competition. Some thousand people visited the gymnasium hall to follow this dancesport event. WDSF President Carlos Freitag had come to Chengdu to speak an address of welcome to the couples and the audience.
The competition started at 9.30 a.m. Chairman Marco Sietas, WDSF Sports Director, and the nine adjudicators did a hard job to find out the seven finalists. Nearly 12 hours later the final rounds could be started.

With 229,23 points just under the result of Gabriele & Anna, Martino Zanibellato / Michelle Abildtrup from Denmark gained 3rd place.
