13-08 WDSF PD World Super Grand Prix Standard – GOC Stuttgart / Germany

27th German Open took place from 13th – 17th of August this year. Stuttgart for the 10th time was host of the competition with more than 5,000 starts on three floors. The opening evening promised to become very exciting. The Professional World Super Grand Prix Standard was the first event to see the Professional World Champion Standard – Mirko Gozzoli & Edita Daniute / Lithuania from Lithuania – and the Amateur World Champion Standard – Benedetto Ferruggia & Claudia Köhler from Germany – dancing in the same competition.

Tenseness was in the air when both couples danced in the same heat. During the tango of the semi-final, Mirko hindered Benedetto on purpose. Some seconds later Benedetto showed some reaction. The chairman, Heinz Spaeker, was not amused and called both couples to reprimand them directly after the tango. Joachim Llambi, the master of ceremony, asked for fair play.

In vienna waltz and in the foxtrott both couples made a joke and seemed to attack one another by dancing very tight to the other couple. The audience was thrilled.
