6th Dance Olympiad World Dance Sport – Cambrils 2012 – set the stage for this years open WDSF World Championship Senior II Standard. 156 couples from all over the world started for the championship in Spain on April 7th 2012.
The championship started at 10.00 a.m. and it took the whole day to find the finalists. At 8.30 p.m. seven couples were nominated for the final rounds.
Heinz-Josef Beckers / Aurelia Bickers from Germany won all dances and the World Championship Senior II Standard with a total of 5 points.
Carlo Wilmer Righero / Manuela Traversi from Italy achieved 2nd place with a total of 12 points. In Viennese waltz and quickstep Carlo and Manuela were set on 3rd place whereas they attained 2nd places in waltz, tango and slow fox.
Neck to neck with the couple from Italy, Michael Lindner / Beate Lindner from Germany achieved 3rd place with a total of 13 points. In waltz, tango and slow fox Michael and Beate attained 3rd places whereas the majority of the nine adjudicators set them on 2nd place in Viennese waltz and quickstep.
4th place: Armando Nespoli / Natalia Gualadris, Italy (20 points)
5th place: Umberto Luchetta Mattace / Filomena Perri, Italy (27 points)
6th place: Jouko Leppala / Helja Leppala, Finland (29 points)
7th place: Evgeny Olkov / Marina Belyaeva, Russian Federation (34 points)
