The highlight of 2017 Chengdu World DanceSport Festival for sure was the WDSF World Championship Standard. 71 couples from 41 nations had come to Chengdu to join the competition. It was not the first time for the teams of formation latin dancing to travel to Bremen / Germany. On December 10th 2016 again the WDSF World Championship Formation Latin was given in ÖVB Arena in Bremen, which was fully booked by thousands of visitors, who wanted to watch "their" team from Grün-Gold-Club Bremen to become world champions formation latin again. The formation standard dance sport teams have to thank the Hungarian DanceSport Association, who organized this year`s WDSF World Championship Formation Standard after the competition was cancelled by the organization of Belarus some months before. So there was not much time to prepare such an event. But the Hungarian DanceSport Association did an excellent job. 13 teams had come to compete. After two rounds 6 teams had been qualified for the final. At the end the team of Aleksey Litvinov - Vera Tyumen from Russian Federation won the title ahead of the team of Rüdiger Knaack, Braunschweiger TSC, who achieved runners-up position.

WDSF World Championship 10Dance was the highlight of Austrian Open Championships at Multiversum / Schwechat on November 19th. 34 couples joined the championship. Jaak Vainomaa - Taina Savikurki from Finland won the World Championship 10Dance ahead of Daniil Ulanov - Kateryna Isakovych from Cyprus, who achieved runners-up position. Third place was given to Konstantin Gorodilov - Dominika Bergmannova from Estonia, who had won the European Championship 10Dance 2016 in Copenhagen in February.

Second major competition at the same weekend at Danish International Dance Festival in Aarhus was the WDSF World Championship Standard. 74 couples had come to Aarhus to compete for the title. Everyone expected a head-to-head competition between Dmitry Zharkov - Olga Kulikova from Russian Federation and Simone Segatori - Annette Sudol from Germany. And it was! After three dances, both couples were totally equal in points. At the end, Dmitry & Olga won the title ahead of Simone & Annette with 0,14 points. Both favourite couples showed exceptional standard dancing. Congratulations!

The Chinese DanceSport Federation had invited the top latin and show dance dancers of the world to join the WDSF World Championship Latin and the World Championships ShowDance Standard and Latin being held in Dujiangyan/Chengdu - People`s Republic of China - as top events of this year`s CDSF World DanceSport Festival. The opening ceremony started open air in the centre of Dujiangyan, where the dancers came along the red carpet to the stage to be saluted by the officials and the public. World Championship Latin started at September 24th with 74 couples from all over the world.

The WRRC – World Rock`n Roll Confederation – organized the World Masters Rock`n Roll at Rimini Exhibition Center on July 9th. It was a great pleasure to watch the couples in footwork and acrobatic sections. Jack Tarczylo – Anna Miadzielec won the title in the main class. A lot of fans in the hall followed the phantastic performance of the couples and gave the World Masters the special atmosphere.

Expedition Center of Rimini set the stage for a series of high leveled dance sport competitions this year again organized by FIDS – Federation Italiana Danza Sportiva. One of the highlights was the World Championship Senior III Standard competition with 345 ! participating couples from 26 nations.
